The present concerto is the original version of a work which has become well known as number 6 of Vivaldi’s set of flute concerti Opus 10. The Opus 10 concerti were published by Le Cene in Amsterdam in 1729 or 30, but only one seems to have been composed expressly for publication. The remainder were arrangements of works previously composed for both flute and treble recorder.
